The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) is a Federal program that helps supplement the diets of low-income Americans, including elderly people, by providing them with emergency food and nutrition assistance at no cost. Hot meals and food for home consumption are provided via this program. USDA's TEFAP WebsiteThis document is from the USDA's TEFAP information page and better explains the program and gives valuable links on how to start the process and where to turn for help and assistance.

I have a question. Is Tefap for individual people or what?

I have a question. Is Tefap for individual people or what? Have we found an answer yet? I am very curious as to what people can receive from this particular government program.

Me too. It would indicate that an individual could receive the TEFAP foods from a qualified Food bank. But I don't know which food banks get the tefap foods and which don't. However the government sets asides funds for tefap based upon use levels, so if you are eligible for tefap, the government has theoretically set aside tefap foods to be distributed to you. Who gets the food to give to you before you actually get it is what I want to know. I have been eligible for tefap for months yet I have not ever received tefap foods. When I asked my food bank they didn't know about tefap, or at least the workers didn't know, so somewhere the food was set aside for me yet I never got a hold of it. They spend billions on this program yet I am not seeing anyone who receives it directly
