I broke down and bought some treats for the neighborhood noise makers this year and when I went to pay, having to use my snap, I wondered how much food stamp money goes to candy in the months of September (pre Halloween when its high priced), October (Halloween when its at its highest price) and November (after Halloween sales when its cheap and discounted)? with that in mind does anyone else here set aside a little foodstamps to take part in the season and fun? Part of me does feel its a tad wasteful, but the system allows me to buy candy, granted it wasn't very much and wasn't at all expensive like the big bag of heresy's or butterfingers, but if its allowed should we even think about if its wasteful? my rationale is that the candy will be given out to a number of kids so its worth it to us, but what about other families',,moms,,older folks?

whoaaaa!! I am most defiantly guilty of doing just that this week with my food stamps but its worth not getting your house egged because you cheaped out on candy to give away.... And yes, kids in my area do things like that; they prolyy learned by watching the past generations who learned from us. galatic karma. I never buy those big industrial sized candy bags/jars, just thing of pre-wrapped Twizlers. Whatever is left over won't go to waste so it's always a win-win when buying sweets. And no, I don't feel bad either. its not too far off from like that commercial that says 'its your money, use it when you need it". Who's to say how I use my ebt

bumping this thread cause i think it's a zero issue. A few dollars worth of candy isn't that big of a deal.

bumping this thread cause i think it's a zero issue. A few dollars worth of candy isn't that big of a deal. today is the day to buy cheap halloween candy that the stores couldn't sell and I suggest looking into the dollar stores in your areas as they tend to give the largest percentage discounts on off-holiday items. gotta love the 70% off clearance candy
