^ Yet some states seem to have created an unlawful hindrance in using your food stamps legally. Has this been challenged in Federal Court? Idk, but to add to this at what point DOES your out of state purchases make you 'suspect'? What Ive took from all the discussion and google is that each state sets its own standards so there may be 50+ different formulas used to identify possible fraud, based upon each state/territory's practices.

So have we figured out just how and why some peoples accounts get flagged when they buy out of state? I've really wanted to know the answer to this because i have saved up a few months worth of extra ebt here and there on the card. its about $35 that i have not spent & I have "accrued" for future use. basically we now have enough to eat really well while on vacation at one of those Extended-Stay type places where you can also cook.
but we don't want to use it out of state while on a weekend vacation to snow shoe mt. or a place like that only to return home and our purchases flagged. the govt site says they have the right to audit your ebt account and basically our purchases are a matter of public record... right or wrong?

... Some states have written that it may help to let your case worker know you are traveling out of the state.
Does anyone else find that last part unsettling? Why do I have to prove I live in state simply because I used it out of state when, LEGALLY, the federal government says federal law REQUIRES SNAP/Foodstamps accounts be accessible over state-lines?
Yet some states seem to have created an unlawful hindrance in using your food stamps legally. Has this been challenged in Federal Court? Don't tell your snap office anything like that! They don't need to know when your traveling. your stuff will be robbed and stolen if you let some dumb case worker know about your plans. don't ever let these idiots know your business!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HOLD ON! Food stamps ARE A MATTER OF PUBLIC RECORD. I can prove it. It's on public record that you receive state assistance. The amount you receive is open to public disclosing and is not considered private or secret.
The woman who won lotto and still was getting assistance checks in the mail is a prime example of her food stamps being on public record because the media was able to investigate and dug into it.
Now WHAT she bought with those food stamps, I don't know.
