I ask this because just recently S.W.I.M. got into an argument with a friend from work on the merits of purchasing delicacy foods on EBT.. For me it was caviar and sushi. Needless to say he became enraged at the prospect tax payers are footing the bill for foods "he doesn't eat due to affordability". I did not tell him about the $15 steaks. or the extra, extra virgin olive oil. Sometimes you just need a really "wealthy" food to treat yourself. Tho one time I did see someone buy 4 lobsters using EBT. The cashier gave them the death-look. lol. I just smiled.

ImHO I would say lobster hits a sore spot with people. Not sure why, in reality its fish and is a food. But I guess its just 1 lobster buys a lot of staples type food, so maybe that's the point of contention.

You should list junk food items. Every grocers store has a dedicated isle to this crap.

sushi and food stamps. That is not a very good economic model for moving ahead of poverty.

I get PO'd looks when I use cash to buy my beer and then food stamps for my edibles. The dirty looks get easier over time to handle, that or I care less and less about others thoughts of myself.
