"Comcast Corp. plans to continue offering low-cost Internet service indefinitely to families who have kids on free or reduced-cost school lunch programs."
The price is $10 a month for Internet service from Comcast under this program.
This is similar to the program that is being tested in certain areas of the country under the broadband pilot program. However, in this case, Comcast has opted to reduce the price for the Internet plan. It maybe worth switching to Comcast if it is available in your area and your child/children are enrolled in one of the free/reduced-price meal programs in their school.
The low-cost program offered by Comcast is called "Internet Essentials":
